Group A: Attempt any TWO questions: [2x10=20]

  1. Human being is considered as a central focus in using environmental resources. Describe it in the context of Determinism and Possibilism thoughts.

  2. "Common resources are everyone's resources and everyone resources are no one's resources". Elaborate the statement in line with Tragedy of the Commons of G. Hardin.

  3. Point out the characteristics features of integrated farming system and its role in sustainable development in the context of Nepal.


Group B: Attempt any EIGHT questions:`[8x5=40]

  1. Discuss briefly about water induced disaster and its affects on the rural development activities in Nepal.

  2. Describe the participatory methods of identifying key environmental issues in Nepal.

  3. Compare and contrast between shifting cultivation and transhumance systems.

  4. What is the concept of Payment of Environmental Services?

  5. What are the causes and controlling measures for land degradation?

  6. Briefly describe the factors of conflict in natural resource management and suggest some measures to solve the conflicts.

  7. Describe the DPSIR (Drivers-Pressure-State-Impact-Response) Analytical Framework.

  8. Discuss in brief about Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) with suitable examples in Nepalese context.

  9. What is watershed? Discuss about the major threats to watershed management in Nepal.

  10. Write short notes on Environment Impact Assessment (EIA).
